Waiting period for LPG cylinder still 15 days
Try cutting down on your LPG usage as there is still a huge backlog for the supplies in the City. The wait for a LPG refill is 13-15 days. The situation will be particularly difficult for consumers who have a single-cylinder connection. The backlog will be cleared only by April-end. Oil companies said that claims by some LPG distributors that there is no LPG supply for the last five to six days due to another strike are completely false.
“I booked a cylinder more than 20 days ago and I am yet to receive a refill. After several visits to the agency, the distributor told me on Monday morning that they had not received loads for the last five to six days as there is a fresh strike by drivers,” said an LPG consumer from JP Nagar. “It is not true. There is no strike and there is no way that a distributor in Bengaluru has not received a load in the last five days. We do have a backlog from the last two strikes and we are slowly covering it. It is not as severe as it was earlier. There is no need to panic and there is no shortage,” said a senior official at Indane.
“We have been getting more than the usual daily supply. Once the strike ended, the first bulk load reached the City after two to three days. The backlog varies from one distributor to another, but the average backlog is around 13 days. By the first week of April, it should come down to 7-10 days and should be cleared April-end,” he said. “A large portion of fresh stocks goes for refills of second cylinders of many consumers. At this moment, when we have a backlog, this cannot be called a genuine demand. This has added to the waiting period of other consumers. But we have to follow the first-come-first-serve model,” said an LPG distributor in Kalyananagar.
