Why target my brother: HDK
Former chief minister and state Janata Dal (S) president H.D. Kumaraswamy alleged on Thursday that the move by Lokayukta police to chargesheet his elder brother Mr Balakrishna Gowda was politically motivated. Speaking to media persons, Mr Kumaraswamy minced no words in alleging that former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and his supporters had instigated Lokayukta officials to file the chargesheet.
“This is the price we pay for exposing corruption in the BJP government. The Lokayukta police filed “B” reports against Mr Yeddyurappa, deputy chief minister R Ashok, housing minister V Somanna and others, who were direct beneficiaries of corruption. Mr Balakrishna Gowda was a government servant, and the complaint was filed seven years after his retirement. There was no direct evidence of him receiving money from any one, but the officers have decided to file the chargesheet against him,” Mr Kumaraswamy added. He, however, said such vindictive action would not deter him or other his kin. “We have faith in the judiciary and will fight it out,” he added.
