Yeddyurappa apologises for Advani remark
Former chief minister and Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) leader B.S. Yeddyurappa, who spoke to reporters in Kunkuva village of Honnalli taluk in Davangere district after performing a Sudarshan homa at the Ranganath temple, apologised for his comments against senior BJP leader, L.K. Advani.
Claiming that they had simply slipped out and his intention was not to blame Mr Advani, but only BJP national general secretary, Ananthkumar, for misleading him about the corruption charges against him, he said, “I made some unintentional comments against Advani while targeting Ananthkumar.
I apologise for them. Both Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani have been like two eyes of my political career.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has welcomed Yeddyurappa’s decision to tender a public apology to BJP patriarch L.K. Advani for the ‘unkind’ remarks made against him. Mr Shettar was speaking to reporters at Lalith Mahal helipad in Mysore before attending the wedding of Kollegal MLA Nanjundaswamy’s daughter.
Senior BJP leader Ananth Kumar, ministers V. Somanna and Raju Gowda were among those who attended the wedding.
The CM shrugged off the challenge posed by Mr Yeddyurappa to the BJP.
