‘Aditi was deliberately kept out’
Sudhir Mishra is elated with the response to Yeh Saali Zindagi. Calling it his “happiest film”, the director says, “The audience completely caught the mood of the film.”
Sudhir is happy for what the experience has brought his cast as well: “Chitrangada (Singh) always had this burden of being great in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. Now people will link her with Yeh Saali Zindagi too. Irrfan (Khan) was a veteran even before this film, but Aurnoday (Singh) is on his way to stardom. And Aditi (Rao) is terrific.”
The director’s remarks have brought out the one question the industry has been asking — why was Aditi kept out of the film’s promotion? Sudhir says, “It was on purpose. People associated her with the bua in Delhi 6 and that would have given them a wrong impression of the character she is playing in YSZ.” Sudhir points out, “We did have Aditi’s song and scenes on the tube. It was only in the PR that we didn’t talk about her.”
