‘Govinda didn’t delay film’
Jagmohan Mundhra’s Naughty@40, starring Govinda, has been on hold for quite some time now. The buzz was that Govinda had not allotted dates for the shoot, which was why the film got held up. The film was launched with much fanfare two years ago, but as things stand today, it is yet to cross the finish line. However, Mundhra clarified that financial constraints were the reason for the delay.
“Govinda has not been creating any delay. The trouble is that the producer has not been able to raise money for the movie. The industry has been going through a rough patch because of the recession and hence the film is on hold,” Mundhra said.
Naughty@40 is Mundhra’s first comic caper. “I never thought that I would be able to deliver the Govinda brand of comedy. But those who have watched the film enjoyed it. I guess I didn’t do badly. Even Govinda is happy with the results,” he said.
The film is 60 per cent complete and the next schedule will be shot in Punjab. In the meantime, Mundhra had two releases with Apartment and Chase. Govinda too, is looking forward to Mani Ratnam’s Raavan.
Mundhra is now planning three films — a romantic comedy, a film set in a small town, and a heroine-centric film. “It has a powerful role for a leading lady, like Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Nandita Das in Provoked and Bawandar respectively. I am looking forward to see who can portray the role,” Mundhra said.
