Much has been written about the legendary Shammi Kapoor’s professed admiration for Deepika Padukone. Shammi had even invited Deepika over for coffee after extending an invitation on Twitter. Deepika, on her part, was enjoying spending some quality time with the veteran actor, who is also Ranbir’s granduncle.

When asked if he had approved of Deepika and Ranbir’s relationship, the veteran said, “I have known about their relationship. Things didn’t go right between them. So when Deepika showed a willingness to communicate over Twitter, I was glad and invited her over. We had a nice evening and talked about lot of things,” he revealed. “It is a different matter that my family didn’t let me be alone with her for even a few minutes!”
Shammi also revealed he hoped the couple would get back together some day. “They look good together. They’re both so tall and good-looking. They complement one another,” he said.
The actor also spoke about Ranbir’s accomplishments. “He is best at what he knows and does. He was excellent in Wake Up Sid. Dancing is in his blood. He’s an excellent dancer like his parents and he is a very dedicated actor,” a proud Shammi added.
