‘I’m a firm believer in destiny’
After flying low on the Bollywood radar for quite a while now, Preity Zinta is back in the spotlight with the TV show Guinness World Records — Ab India Todega.
But she shrugs aside questions of whether her small screen entry has been strategically staged. But Preity says the decision was completely spontaneous. “I have always been a very spontaneous person,” she says. “I jumped into the cricket world with my decision to get involved with the IPL. That was a very big decision and that too, one I made at the peak of my career. Even the way I got into films was the same. I remember Shekhar (Kapoor) giving me a big lecture on how to become a good star and I said ‘Theek hai’. But after that, I flipped a coin and asked if I should get into acting? I’m a firm believer in destiny.”
Well, spontaneity is all very well, but perhaps she has forgotten that her career was hardly at its “peak” when she entered the IPL in 2008. It had been two years since her last hit — Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Maybe that’s an analogy we can use to explain Preity’s small screen foray now?
