‘I’m the heart of the company’

Dia Mirza is all set to don a new hat. Along with good friend Zayed Khan, the beautiful actor is turning producer for a romantic comedy film, titled Love, Break Up, Zindagi.
QHow did the idea of producing a film strike you?
I’m in my 10th year as an actor. I wanted to do something different from what I have already done. So I, along with Zayed Khan and Saahil Sangha, who I have been friends with for three years now, started a production house. We want to make many movies.

QWhy a romantic film to start off?
The boys (Saahil and Zayed) were working on an action comedy earlier and they had a script ready. But I said we should go with a love story first. The company is about love and a romantic comedy will reflect that. When we heard the script of Love Break-Up Zindagi, we got really attached to it. There was a level of possessiveness about the script; we didn’t want it to go anywhere else.

QIs your pal Boman Irani going to be a part of the film?
Boman is my lucky mascot. He is part of my film.

QSo the action film will be next?
Yes. But I don’t know if I will be a part of it.

QHow did Zayed and you become such close friends?
I got really close to Zayed when he was getting married to Malaika, by just being involved in the wedding. I was involved in coordinating the rehearsals and getting the skit ready with Hrithik and Ritesh and all his friends. We formed a beautiful bond. I love his wife; she is like my soul sister. Since then, I have been a part of every big change in his life. From his becoming a father to watching Zidane’s first steps.

QDo the three of you have fights?
We are three bodies and one soul. Zayed is the force, Saahil is the leader and I’m the heart.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
