‘I feel I need to learn everything’
Urmila Matondkar, who has wowed audiences for many years now, still feels that there is a lot left to learn. The actress, who is back on television after a long hiatus says, “Aaj phir jeene ki tamannaa hai, aaj phir marne ka irada hai. Sometimes I feel I have learnt it all and sometimes I feel that I need to learn everything.”
Ask her if there’s any role from the 60s and 70s she’d like to take on and she replies, “Waheeda Rehman’s character in Guide was amazing. I like the character of a woman who wants to live her life on her terms and conditions. If I get a role which encapsulates the spirit of her character, it would be amazing.”
However, Urmila wouldn’t like to be seen in another reality show soon, after Chak Dhoom. “After this show I think there will be a long break, because I don’t like repeating myself.”
While her co-judges on the show are known for bringing their technical know-how to the table, Urmila says that her role is to judge the idea that’s expressed through a performance. “Your technique may be fantastic but if it doesn’t connect, then it’s never going to make an exception,” she says.
