‘I want to believe awards are not rigged’
The awards season is in full swing. Four major institutions have already announced their awards for 2011 and some awards functions are yet to be held.
Priyanka Chopra, who has received awards in the past for her role in Fashion, likes to believe that there is no lobbying for awards and talent is actually counted. She says, “I want to believe that the selection process is not rigged.” Priyanka adds that she thinks awards serve as an encouragement. “I certainly believe in awards. They are meant to be a form of praise for your work, and it only makes you want to work harder. When I had won my first award, I thought I had conquered the world,” she adds.
Priyanka refuses to acknowledge the fact that most of the times, awards in Bollywood are pre-decided. “I don’t know anything about it; if you know more please give me the phone number of the concerned person and I’ll confirm my award. I want to believe that awards are not rigged because we work very hard on a film,” she asserts.
