‘I won’t be able to get married now’

QThere has been a buzz about the Tweeple Awards on Twitter, in which people are voting for their favourite stars. As a regular Twitter user are you hoping to win?

I have been off Twitter of late as I have been working a lot. But I think it is a very nice concept. I’m a very bad loser. If I don’t win, I will be really sad.

Q The promos of Saat Khoon Maaf look interesting. Are you expecting to sweep the awards next year?

I don’t do some films for awards and some for the box office. If I start doing that, I will not be able to give my best to my films. When I complete the film, it is out in the universe for people to judge. I always believe that if you have expectations, then disappointment is not far away. Saat Khoon Maaf is releasing in February and there are many more films releasing throughout 2011.

Q It seems to be a very challenging role.

I think I’m being repetitive — I said the same thing for Kaminey and What’s Your Rashee and now Saat Khoon Maaf. I’m scared to say this now — but so far, it has been my most challenging role. My parents think that people will actually be scared of me after this. I don’t know if it was a compliment or not, but my mother says that I won’t be able to get married now. Saat Khoon ke baad to ladka milega hi nahin.

Q You seem to have become the replacement for heroes. You replaced Hrithik Roshan in Saat Khoon Maaf and Akshay Kumar in Khatron Ke Khiladi?

I don’t know about replacing Hrithik. I just know that Vishal sir came to me with a script which I just loved. He is someone with whom I’ll work even with eyes closed. As far as KKK is concerned, well, I’m a bit of a boy.

Q Who was your best co-actor from Saat Khoon Maaf?

It will have to be Vivaan — Naseer sir’s son. It was his first film and we would hang out a lot together. —BNS

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
