‘No one looks 18 in the industry’

Madhur Bhandarkar has come up against a curious hurdle in his bid to cast an 18-year-old actress opposite Ajay Devgn in his forthcoming film Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji. This will be Madhur’s first romantic comedy, and will also star Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya. Shruti Haasan has been signed on to play Emraan’s love interest.
But it is his hunt for Ajay’s love interest that has turned up naught. “The girl has to look 18. There is no actress in the industry who is only 18 years old. The moment I find one, I will cast her,” says Madhur, adding, “Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji is a story of three guys. I have been known for making hard-hitting, real and controversial films. I needed a break out from those, so I decided to do something with comedy. I am looking for two more girls to star in the film. Their names will be announced in due course. We are planning to start shooting soon.”
In the meantime, the director will begin work on Heroine with Kareena Kapoor this October.
