Aamir’s decision spoils Abhishek’s Game
Aamir Khan has to be one of the most powerful people in the industry, but does he underplay it. He made a decision to prepone the release of his wife Kiran Rao’s movie Dhobi Ghat and all the biggies are running for cover. The other movies scheduled to release at that time have postponed the release of their movies.
But, a little bird tells us that the Abhishek Bachchan starrer Game was set to release on January 21 and the producers had stuck to their guns even after Aamir had announced the date.
Says a veteran industry insider, “Game was earlier all set to release on January 21. The date was announced months ago and with the film’s shoot being through, there were plans for the promotions as well.”
One was surprised though with the stance taken by Game, as two other biggies had moved away from the same date with Bharadwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf and Bhandarkar’s Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji pushed back.
As things stand today, Game too is steering clear of Aamir’s film. The film has been postponed to March though even that looks tentative. Confirms Ritesh Sidhwani, co-producer of Game, “We are not releasing in January. We could release in March though we are yet to decide.”
One also suspects if this was a goodwill gesture, given the fact that the producers are working with Aamir in their next project (to be directed by Reema Kagti). After all, it won’t be fair to clash with the same actor at the box office with whom they are working.
