‘Abhay isn’t insecure’
Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi’s rivalry on the sets of Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai has been in the news for quite some time now. There was even a buzz that Abhay threatened not to promote the film resulting in a fallout with Dibakar. Both the actor and director are livid with the false stories and now want to clear the air once for all.
Dibakar said, “Abhay doesn’t want his phoney rivalry to become the talking point of the film. He is an established actor who doesn’t need to resort to such gimmicks. I want to clarify that there are no issues between us — I was even invited to his place on his birthday.”
It was reported that Abhay was upset about an item number picturised on Emraan without his knowledge. But Dibaker insists that Abhay was in fact relieved that he didn’t have any songs. About Abhay re-dubbing some of his lines, he says, “That’s not insecurity; that’s perfectionism. Since he plays a Tamil Brahmin he couldn’t afford to falter in his accent.”
We only hope he’s being honest!
