Abhi recalls Dostana
Nearly four years after its release, Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana is still considered the epitome of homosexual humour in the film industry, and inside jokes still go around town branding those with gay tendencies as doing a “Dostana turn”.
Well, if the first poster of Bol Bachchan is anything to go by, then Abhishek Bachchan looks all set to repeat his gay act in the Rohit Shetty film now.
The film’s poster, released yesterday, shows Abhi in a pink floral shirt, his hand placed precariously over his chest in an effeminate manner. “Just like he did in Dostana, Abhi seems to be spoofing a gay character and he’s obviously having a lot of fun doing it. It’s not supposed to be taken seriously at all, since he’s not actually playing a gay character,” says a source.
Not just that, Abhi also seems to be playing a double role in the film. “There are two Abhishek Bachchans standing behind Ajay Devgn in the poster. The other Abhi seems to be a rustic guy,” says an observer.
Surprisingly enough, the film is a remake of the Amol Palekar movie Golmaal, where Palekar played a smart-alec and a seedha saadha kurta-clad simpleton. “It’s clear that the simpleton has been replaced by a funny gay character here,” the source adds.
However, the makers aren’t willing to go on record yet. When contacted, Rohit Shetty wasn’t available for comment.
