Actresses bury envy

That true friends are hard to come by in the film industry is a known fact. But it’s only when you consider the case of the fairer sex in Bollywood that you realise how true this rings. Actresses have always been catty and snappy in their dealings with their contemporaries, envious even when a rival does exceedingly well.

So when Vidya Balan picked up all those accolades and awards for The Dirty Picture, we’d have thought it would be envy that would rule the ranks of the Bollywood actresses club. But no, says Vidya, she hasn’t had any displays of envy thus far: “I’d be lying if I said that I sensed envy. They have all been very appreciative and encouraging. There have been a few female actors, particularly, who have even said ‘Way to go, this opens up avenues for us and we are waiting to see what you're doing next.’”
