Aisha director is all praise for its starcast
After Chaurahein, Rajashree Ojha is looking forward to her second most talked about film Aisha. Although believed to be a take off from Jane Austen’s Emma, Rajashree says that the film will be combination of Emma and Pride And Prejudice.
“I love the story of Emma. I had just returned from the United States and had a broken leg when I was reading the book. I felt that this would be a perfect story for an Indian society. I’ve just taken the plot line from Emma and a sub-plot from Pride And Prejudice. At the same time, I have given it a complete Indian look. The boy is from a small town of Haryana and the girl is from the plush locale of Delhi,” she says.
Rajashree says that Abhay Deol who plays the lead is the surprise package of the film. She had none of the actors in mind when she started writing the script of he movie. “But once we started casting it was Abhay throughout the way. I couldn’t think of anyone else but him in the knightly character. He can mould himself so well and he is so confident. Secondly, he can stand against anybody. He is the soul of the film. I think Abhay is the next Colin Frost of India. I met many girls who are crazy about him. With this film he is certainly going to get a lot more girl fans,” she laughs.
The film, says Rajashree, is a romantic comedy. “It narrates the protagonist Aisha’s journey. Aisha grew up without a mother and is very pampered. She wants everything around her to be perfect — you can see it in the way she dresses — and she wants others to be like her in every way. Abhay and Sonam are going to be the USP of the film,” she says.
