Ajay-Akki call truce

Even our Bollywood stars are not immune to the magic of the festive season. And so it is that two of B’town’s biggies, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn have officially buried the hatchet and called truce on a cold war that began all the way back in 1994.

It was while Ajay and Akshay co-starred in the film Suhag that they had differences of opinion, and consequently had a falling out. Neither bothered to mend the rift, until recently, when Akki initiated a ceasefire of sorts by letting go of the title Son Of Sardar, for Ajay’s benefit.
Now we hear that Akki and Ajay had a business meeting recently, where the possibility of a tie-up between their respective films Khiladi 786 and SOS was discussed. “Akshay proposed the idea of releasing the promos of Khiladi 786 with Ajay’s Diwali release, SOS. And Ajay agreed,” a little birdie close to the actors shared with us.
Ajay already enjoys a great equation with the names that matter in B’town, including Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Amitah Bachchan. Adding Akki’s name to the list will only make this camp stronger, say insiders. With all the films that Ajay and Akki have done in the recent past proving to be hits, their coming together can only enhance their individual brand value. “What happened between them years ago has no significance now,” our source adds. “What matters is their maturity and pragmatism. Ajay and Akshay are both very secure, successful people.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
