Ajay is B’town’s new numero uno
He has hit a bull’s eye. Ajay Devgn is roaring and how. The stupendous opening of Singham has put the man in the top notch seat. It’s time for him sit back and count his laurels.
Singham has had one of the best openings this year. Does the pressure of sustaining the success scare you?
I’m glad that people have liked Singham. As a team, Rohit and I have always clicked and mostly in case of comedy films. Thankfully, some of the recent films I’ve done have clicked commercially. The pressure to live up to the expectations is unnerving. But that’s what keeps me going.
Who is your biggest critic?
For an action film like Singham, it’s my father. Being an action director in this industry, he knows more about the raw and stylised action. It’s my first action film in eight years. I was anxious to know his verdict. Thankfully he okayed the film.
This is the best phase in your life. Are you in the mood to make peace with ex-pals like Prakash Jha?
There was no animosity. After the Rajneeti episode he explained his stand and I understood. But I was genuinely busy with my prior commitments and that’s the only reason I couldn’t do Aarakshan.
Katrina, Priyanka and almost every other actress in the industry wants to work with you. How do you feel about that?
(Blushes) Really? I’ll take that as a compliment. I think they are all wonderful actors. I’ll work with them as and when a good script comes up.
Have you buried the hatchet with Priyanka Chopra?
Personally, I never had a problem with Priyanka. The producer of the film that we were doing together had a problem with her.
