Ajay dares to take on SRK

It’s an unspoken rule in Bollywood that Diwali belongs to the badshah. Shah Rukh Khan has always been releasing his films over the Diwali weekend, and given the unparalleled popularity of his films, nobody ever dares take him on. But for the first time in recent memory, SRK’s bittersweet rival Ajay Devgn has decided to do the unthinkable. Ajay, we hear, has zeroed in on the Diwali slot for his Son Of Sardaar, even as SRK plans the same for his own upcoming Yash Raj production.
“Diwali has been lucky for Ajay as well. He has had his Golmaal series and All The Best releasing on this occasion, and proving to be big hits. But it’s also been SRK’s playground for years, and though his Ra.One last year had some backlash coming his way, his films are still a formidable force over the festive occasion,” says a trade source.
With neither of the two biggies willing to cede ground to the other, we cannot wait to see which way the distributors and exhibitors will turn. Let’s just wait and watch which one kills the other now.
