Akki and Priyan to team up again

After the runaway success of Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiya and De Dana Dan, the dynamic actor-director duo of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan has teamed up once again.
This time around, Akki will be seen as a struggling road construction contractor in Priyan’s satirical comedy Khatta Meetha. Akki is set to wow audiences with his rendition of Sachin Tiskula, a common man caught in an uncommon situation. In fact, Priyan has already been raving about Akki’s performance.
Says Priyan, “I’ve seen Akshay grow from Hera Pheri to Khatta Meetha. I can proudly say that he has become an actor on par with the best. Akshay’s character Sachin Tiskula is the most intricate character I’ve ever dealt with and Akshay has put his heart and soul to bring the character to its zenith. His body language, emotions, dialogue delivery, and comic timing have been impeccable. And there’s plenty of realism and subtlety too.”
Khatta Meetha is a satire on the municipal and construction dealings in India told through Sachin Tiskula’s life. It aims at highlighting the various levels at which bribery exists and how the common man has to resort to crooked tricks to get by.
The industry is obviously expecting fireworks from this film, as Akki and Priyan have an impeccable track record of delivering hits together. A trade analyst said, “Bollywood has been starved of good comedy films and when Akshay and Priyadarshan come together, there is bound to be some heavy duty laughter.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
