Akki’s got an April date for Housefull
So what if the Khans have cornered all the festive slots on the box office release calendar? Akshay Kumar is all set to make the month of April his own when his film Housefull 2 releases.
Now the film’s makers, Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan, pushed ahead the film’s release to April so that a confrontation with Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger could be avoided. But it may just prove to be a win-win situation for the Housefull 2 team as well, since it was April when the original film arrived, and went on to become a monster hit.
“It was a much thought out decision. Housefull was the biggest grosser ever for all the parties involved — be it Akki or the two Sajids. So they were hopeful that a similarly timed release with the sequel would also work for them,” says a source connected to the film.
If the April gambit pays off, the team is looking at making Housefull a “once every two years” phenomenon, our source adds.
