Akki sets a summer date
When something starts working for them, expect our Bollywood stars to stick to the winning formula. Akshay Kumar has done exactly that for his next film Boss. He has locked the film’s arrival for June 7 next year, around the same time as Rowdy Rathore, which had turned out to be a blockbuster.
“In times when release dates are becoming more precious by the day, every actor is keen on blocking a date. Akshay feels that the first week of June is good for the release of an action entertainer and since summers are considered lucrative in terms of trade, he didn’t want to take chances,” says a source.
Given the fact that Boss has already gone on the floors, the film now needs to be complete within a certain time frame. “That’s the way Akshay works. Since he releases three to four films a year, he cannot afford to drag his films. He starts 2013 with Special Chabbis while his big-ticket film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 is already confirmed for an August 8 release. So Boss had to arrive somewhere in between and what better date than to arrive exactly a year after Rowdy Rathore?” says a close associate of the actor.
So will Bollywood get a new “boss” next year? Fingers crossed.
