Akshay’s strategic plan
After Shah Rukh Khan hit the bull’s eye with his record-breaking opening of Chennai Express, it is now Akshay Kumar’s turn to take centrestage. His film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara is slated to release next week and Akki has been promoting it for over a month now. But while aggressive promotion is the name of the game, Akshay is also synonymous with strategic planning.
The superstar smartly timed the unveiling of his father-in-law Rajesh Khanna’s statue right before the release of his film. And while he is still in the process of promoting OUATIMD, he has already started spreading the word for his next venture Boss. “Usually, actors like Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan space out the release of their films. Back-to-back releases doesn’t always work in one’s favour. Even newcomers are playing it safe. Akshay’s over-the-top public exposure runs the risk of diluting the impact of his films,” says a trade analyst.
