All around the world in 40 days

Akshay Kumar, who is working on three films concurrently and is planning to start two others, has been missing from action for an unusually long time, with even close friends and associates not being aware of his whereabouts. Turns out that Akki was on vacation all along, and has just finally resurfaced.

“After wrapping up major portions of Housefull 2, Joker and Desi Boyz, Akshay decided to take a summer break,” informs a source, adding that it’s a pattern Akki likes to follow every year. “He will soon start working for Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2 and Rowdy Rathore and wanted to be rejuvenated before that happens.”
After a whirlwind tour of Frankfurt, Toronto and Rome, Akshay was in Mumbai, but it was but a quick stopover before he heads out for a Beijing leg of the vacation. “Akshay is very fond of travelling. He’s a firm believer that the best education comes from visiting places. He also encourages his son to be an outdoor person,” says a close family friend, adding that he doesn’t even like taking calls when on vacation.
And with a doting father opening out a world map for him to choose from, little Aarav has set his sights on the Far East. “They would be heading from Beijing to Hong Kong and a couple of other cities as well before finally returning to India. The final stop-over would be at Goa where Akshay has his own property at Anjuna,” the friend informed.
Akshay himself couldn’t be contacted, as his phone was, predictably enough, switched off.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
