Amit’s long wait comes to an end
Amit Sadh, who shares screen space with Sushant Singh Rajput and Rajkumar Yadav in Kai Po Che, is confident that his period of struggle will be over as the film hits the screens.
As an actor, what was it about Kai Po Che that made you go for it?
A couple of years ago, I was reading The Three Mistakes of my Life, and I was hooked. At that time, I didn’t know that a film would be made on it. When I got to know about the adaptation, I was not specific about which of the three guys I would want to play; I just knew that I had to be in it.
And then you got the part of Omi...
Yes, and I am happy about that. The kind of shades, graph and the catharsis that it goes through is tremendous. To get such a complex role at an initial start of my career was huge for me.
In the process you left behind TV?
When I decided to leave TV and move into movies, I hadn’t thought that it would take me five to six years to do the kind of films I wanted to do. See, there are hurdles in your life and when you set out to achieve something, you have to be patient enough. I am a die-hard optimist. Even when I had spare time, I watched movies and travelled.
But your plans did go haywire for so many years...
I had stopped planning life a long time ago, so no complaints. In fact, this delay only complimented my growth as an actor. I wanted to work hard and be honest. As an actor and a person, I have managed to be as pure as possible in the current scenario.
