Amitabh casts caste away
When asked about his daughter-in-law’s Manglik status, Amitabh Bachchan had very stoically said that he doesn’t believe in the concept. Many months later, he reiterated these views, talking about how his father had changed his surname to Bachchan. And here comes yet another confirmation from Big B. “Caste is something which is identified by people’s surname, but I am proud that you will never be able to identify my caste after hearing my surname. When my father admitted me in a school, he gave his pen name as my surname,” he said in a recent interview.
Talking about his own multi-cultural family, he added, “In my family, I can never talk about caste or creed because my father married a Sikh, I married a Bengali, my brother married a Sindhi, my daughter married a Punjabi and my son married a Tulu.”
Talk about unity in diversity!
