Anil, Sanjay pay Amitabh a tribute
If you liked Hrithik Roshan’s rendition of Agneepath, then wait till you see Anil Kapoor’s version now. No, Anil isn’t working in yet another remake of the hit 90s film, rather a scene from that film will be replayed in Anil’s next film Shootout At Wadala.
In Agneepath, Amitabh enters a slum area and rescues his sister (Neelam Kothari) from the clutches of the villain Deepak Shirke, who’s surrounded by thousands of Tamilians preventing outsiders from entering the circle. In Shootout, Anil too enters a Muslim-dominated area to hunt for John Abraham, who’s playing a hardened criminal.
Director Sanjay Gupta admits he idolises Agneepath maker Mukul S. Anand and the scene is supposed to be a tribute to the late filmmaker. What made it even more special was the fact that Sanjay chose to film the scene on real location at Behram Baug instead of using a set. “The place is densely populated and very sensitive. Celebrities especially have to be very careful. But Sanjay wanted the authenticity of 70s Bombay to be retained, and so, it was the crew who surrounded Anil and John and ensured the scene was shot safely,” recalls one of the ADs.
