While Anurag Kashyap’s new film Udaan gears up for its release on July 9, the director is ready with his next film That Girl in Yellow Boots starring girlfriend Kalki Koechlin and Prashant Prakash in the lead. The director, however, has kept the promotion of That Girl… on hold and will start working on it soon after the release of Udaan. “That Girl… is a thriller and is ready for release, and we will start working on it soon after Udaan is released,” he says.
Expressing his joy about the way Kalki’s career is shaping, the director says, “I am thrilled for Kalki now. Her career is going places especially after the Coke commercial that Dibakar Bannerjee shot with her. I am so happy for her.”
Anurag at the moment has his kitty full with nine films, which are part of a deal that he signed with UTV Motion Pictures. “Yes, these films are part of the deal. I was planning to make a package of three films with Rs 10 crores and no one believed me. But with UTV’s backing, I have completed all the three films — Udaan, That Girl... and Tumbaad — in the said amount. The budget of Udaan is Rs 3 crores, while That Girl… and Tumbaad have a budget of Rs 2.5 crores. Out of which, Udaan was a complete commercial venture,” he says.
Anurag will be directing four out of the nine-film deal. Soon after releasing the above three films, he plans to begin shooting Gangs of Wassipur in Bihar with Manoj Bajpayee. The actor has script of two other films Bombay Velvet (with Aamir Khan) and Doga ready. But he will be working on only one film at a time.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
