Anushka’s not pitch perfect

Patiala House may be all about cricket; but the film’s heroine Anushka Sharma pleads ignorance when it comes to the technicalities of the sport.
She confesses: “I don’t watch cricket. But that wasn’t an issue in taking up this film because my character Simran is just like me — she has absolutely no clue about cricket. She calls the pitch a field; she calls the wickets, goals. She just doesn’t see any difference in the terms. I do know all the right terms and rules, but the game doesn’t interest me.”
However, not even Anushka could maintain her disinterest when the cast had a chance to shoot a match at London’s iconic Oval stadium. “My brother was the one who told me just how lucky I was to be witnessing this. After that, my excitement knew no bounds. All the time I was walking in the stadium, I had a sense of just how rare the opportunity was.”
