Arjun doesn’t have the ten-year itch
This August, Arjun Rampal will be completing a decade in the industry. But unlike his peers, the actor says that the “ten-year itch” of making a transition from an actor to a director, has not hit him yet. Arjun claims that he is very content in front of the camera.
“I won’t deny that direction is the very extension of being an actor. If an actor enjoys the world of cinema, then he would, somewhere in his heart, carry a desire to make a film the way he wants,” says Arjun, who has seen several highs and lows during the last decade in Bollywood.
However, even though the actor sounds appreciative of the idea, he doesn’t want to take any such step in his own career. “Right now, I don’t have any such idea in mind, and frankly I don’t want to focus on it either. If I have to direct a film, I need to get into that space that allows me to take charge of everything. But as of now, I want to work in the imaginations of other people. But then of course, never say never,” he smiles.
Meanwhile, looking back quite fondly at the decade gone by, Arjun says, “There aren’t many who enter the industry and survive a couple of years. In that sense, a decade isn’t bad at all. From being tagged with various not-so-flattering titles in the initial phase of my career to be acknowledged as someone dependable, is quite a journey I guess.”
