Bachchan: My best friend?

The celebrations of Amitabh Bachchan’s 70th birthday are turning out to be an extremely expensive affair. Anil Ambani who has been friends with the Bachchan’s for a long time, threw a dinner party for the legend at a South Mumbai hotel with a guest list of 50. And needless to say, it was in opulent Ambani style.

Apparently, junior Ambani paid a whopping `47 lakhs for what was supposed to be a “small get together”. A lot of industry people have been suspecting that Anil threw this party to outdo his brother Mukesh’s bash for designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. “The entire Bachchan family was present for that party as the designers are their friends. But they have been neutral regarding the Ambani brothers’ war,” recalls our source.
So, was it Anil’s affection for the superstar or was he trying to tell his brother that he is closer to AB and family? Whatever the deal is, the fact remains that `47 lakh is a lot of money to prove your point.
