Baritone Bachchan changes tune

Twenty years after he tried a similar experiment in Agneepath, Amitabh Bachchan has changed his dialogue delivery in Department.

Instead of his trademark baritone, the superstar will be heard in quite a different pitch and tone altogether, to suit his street-smart gangster-turned-politico persona. With his Agneepath experiment backfiring on him, it was a huge risk indeed, for even someone of the Big B’s stature, to attempt this again.
Confirms Department director Ram Gopal Varma, “Yes, it was Amitji’s idea. Since his character has a gangster background, he wanted to bring in some imperfection to it. He not just wanted to change his voice but also speak Hindi differently from normal. It was a conscious call taken by him to change his tone.”
We’re sure the Big B is hoping to break his Agneepath jinx with his Department turn.
