Bhatts declare Murder 3 is a remake of other film
The Bhatts have done the unthinkable. Long accused of being liberally “inspired” by the scripts of Hollywood films and those from the Far East, the Bhatts have proclaimed that Murder 3 is a remake of a well-known film — even before work on the third installment of their successful franchise begins.
“Yes, Murder 3 is the remake of a successful international film,” says a source connected to the film. “Now whether it is a Korean, Hollywood or some other language film that it’s a remake of will be revealed only once the film goes on the floors. The Bhatts have no intention of concealing the source. This is what Vishesh Bhatt, who is making his directorial debut with the project, wanted as well.”
Now whether it is because today’s cyber-savvy audience anyway picks up similarities — intended or otherwise — between two films or because the Bhatts genuinely want to make it known that Murder 3 is a desi version of some iconic film is not known. What is known, however, is the flak the Bhatts received for alleged similarities between Murder 2 and the Korean film Chugyeogja, and previously, between the original Murder and H’wood hit Unfaithful.
Mahesh Bhatt confirmed, “Yes, Murder 3 is a remake but don’t ask me the name of the (source) film as yet. Along with Fox, we have already procured the rights of the film. However, Murder 3 would be soaked in Indian sensibilities.”
