Bhatts move over protégé gone foul
There was once a time when Emraan Hashmi was the laughing stock of the industry, and it was only the Bhatts who trusted him with their projects. But over time, Emraan has become among the more sought after names in Bollywood, and has even begun looking beyond the Bhatts. Not one to cry over a wayward protégé, Mahesh Bhatt says he has found the perfect replacement for Emraan in Randeep Hooda.
“In my career, I’ve realised that no one is indispensable. Emraan has moved out and is exploring the world outside the Bhatt camp. The world doesn’t really begin and end with Mahesh Bhatt,” says the filmmaker, the unmistakable sarcasm in his voice revealing the story of the betrayal.
Emraan, the nephew of Mahesh Bhatt, is working with big camps like UTV and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji, and the uncle isn’t one to urge him to return back to the fold. “Emraan is doing bigger films. And I have found Randeep to fill in for him. I’ve always believed that everyone is blessed with talent, and all you need is the right person to bring it out,” he says.
So there goes another mentor-protégé relationship down the drain.
