Big B or Dharam for Hema?
The industry is celebrating the news about yesteryear real and reel life couple Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s coming together in Tell Me O Khuda, but looks like this wasn’t really the original plan. Apparently, Amitabh Bachchan was the first choice of the dream girl’s home production. “Yes, that was the original idea. Hema and AB pairing has worked in a lot of films. So it was inevitable that the two be paired in this one as well. She too was sure that Amitabh would definitely agree to do the film,” revealed Hema’s spokesperson. But the last minute change happened when he declined the offer citing date issues. “Hemaji has always been there for Big B. But when she approached him for her film, he turned it down,” said our source.
Certainly, the Big B’s backing out did hurt her. But Hema doesn’t hold it against him. She knows how difficult it is to take such a call. Big B’s loss turned out to be Dharmendra’s gain as when Hema confided in Dharam about this development, he immediately offered to step in. “This was a casting coup of sorts. The idea of getting the Hema-Dharam pair was the ultimate. And plus, Dharam was getting an opportunity to do a film with daughter Esha. “It worked out for the betterment of the film. Their chemistry rocks and is still intact,” says Hema’s spokesperson.
