Can Aarakshan outdo Rajneeti?
Rajneeti, which released last year, did more business than all of Prakash Jha’s nine previous films put together. For Jha, it was indeed an accomplishment, but the next challenge is with Aarakshan.
“The audience won’t be expecting anything lesser than Rajneeti this time around. Especially since Aarakshan too boasts of a huge starcast, deals with a topical subject and is at a similar scale,” says a trade source. “Also, the current season has been pretty favourable to Bollywood with five superhits in a row. It would be quite surprising if Aarakshan doesn’t do well. And it has three weeks open for itself, since the next big film, Bodyguard, arrives only on Eid.”
Playing down the hype, Jha says, “When you make a movie, you don’t think about the pressure of delivering a hit bigger than your last flick. You can just hope that you have made a better film.”
“But I hope it becomes bigger than Rajneeti. The audience should identify with the story and the character. Yes, I do believe that it would do better,” he added.
