Catch them young, watch them grow

There was once a time when Yash Raj Films would not think of having anybody other than the Shah Rukh Khans and the Kajols of this world to work in their films. But how times have changed. Buoyed by the success enjoyed by Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma, they have decided to give a platoform to newcomers.
“YRF has the biggest stars working in their films, but the need of the hour is to groom a younger breed of actors,” says a trade veteran. Next among them is Arjun, Boney Kapoor’s son, who’ll debut in Ishaqzaade.
“Going by the promos though, he isn’t playing a conventional hero in the film. But that shouldn’t be alarming. Even Ranveer saw success mainly because Band Baaja Baaraat worked at the Box Office. Ultimately when a film works, everything falls into place,” says a filmmaker.
And given YRF’s track record, that should be the least of their worries.
