Chi Chi: Prank’s not funny

Bollywood has recently been victimised by a spate of hoax calls. Apparently, a prankster has been spreading faux news about some B’town denizen’s death or the other. Govinda was the latest to fall prey to the morbid prank.
In the midst of a round of media interviews for his upcoming film Loot, Chi Chi suddenly received a call that sent him into paroxysms of sobbing. At his request, his aides cleared out the gathered press, but not before everyone got a good look at an emotionally overwrought Govinda weeping uncontrollably.
An aide later revealed that the actor had received a phone call from someone claiming that his good friend and co-star of several projects, comedian Johnny Lever, had suddenly taken ill and had been rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. “He (Govinda) is close to very few people and is very emotional about them,” our source said. “Johnnybhai is one of them.”
It was only when Chi Chi tried to contact Johnny’s family that he found out that the call was a hoax. “Whoever played the prank, it was in very bad taste,” Chi Chi’s aide added.
The actor is now considering filing a police report about the incident.
