Clash between Ekta and Karan
Karan Johar may have graciously allowed Ekta to use portions of his superhit films in Kya Super Kool Hai Hum, but that doesn’t mean all is well between the two. Apparently, the heavyweights have blocked the same release date for their respective productions.
A trade source says, “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (KJo) and Lootera (Ekta) are progressing well. But a common release date may not be such a healthy decision. And given that they are close friends in real life, the news is very surprising.”
Even other filmmakers seem to agree. “Both are romantic films featuring heartthrobs Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. It would be unfair to pit them against each other,” says a veteran filmmaker, adding, “Perhaps this is just a stop-gap arrangement as they may not want anyone else to eye the same slot. It’s actually a smart step because later one of them will quietly move out giving the other a free run.” If that’s indeed the case, Ekta and Karan are definite masters of the game.
