Cocktail of influences for saif-dippy’s flick?

The plot line of their upcoming film Cocktail seems to share the same spirit as Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona

One boy, two girls and a blossoming love story — that’s hardly a theme Bollywood hasn’t explored. But when it comes to the new Saif Ali Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer, Cocktail, the twist is in how said boy, and two girls are oh-so-happy, practically living together.

And in this, they may have some inspiration from a certain Spanish source.
“From the plot details that have emerged so far, it would seem that certain elements of Cocktail are drawn from Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” says an industry insider. “The film, which was set in Barcelona, featured Javier Bardem as an artist, who enjoys the company of his ex-wife, played by Penelope Cruz, as well as his new girlfriend, Scarlett Johansson. Cocktail seems to be treading the same path.”
The promos of Cocktail show Saif enjoying the attentions of his co-stars Dippy and Diana Penty. “There is no ex-wife in the picture here, but in spirit, the film seems to be borrowing from Vicky Cristina. There is the same carnival kind of atmosphere, and both films deal with the liberation of human emotions with no strings attached. Vicky Cristina had shocked many with its uninhibited portrayal of a love triangle. Now expect the same in Cocktail,” our source added. The Cocktail team is not talking about their inspirations, if any.
