Decade old Cold War ends
They may be having the best of times bonding over the making of Gangs of Wasseypur, but behind Anurag Kashyap and Manoj Bajpai’s bonhomie lies a decade-old Cold War. Anurag and Manoj, who became friends while working on films like Satya and Shool, fell out when Anurag wanted to direct his first project.
“Anurag had approached Manoj’s secretary to ask him about the actor’s fees. Manoj was hurt by this, as he felt Anurag should have approached him directly. And there the matter ended. Anurag went on to make his movie with another actor, and he and Manoj did not work together again for 10 years,” a source divulges.
Until Gangs of Wasseypur happened, and Anurag felt the project needed Manoj. Manoj says the duo have buried the past, adding, “My issue with Anurag was that when we were eating together every second day, why did he have to go to my secretary for money matters? However, what matters now is that we are working together.”
