Direction can wait for Arshad

Here’s one more actor who wants to slip behind the lens. For a long time now Arshad Warsi has been trying to direct a film. He had even announced his plans of making Akkad and it was also rumoured that Priyanka Chopra would be the leading lady, something that Arshad had promptly denied.
The actor had grand plans for his dream project. “I am going to shoot Akkad in a way that Bollywood has never seen. My style would have a Guy Ritchie feel to it but the overall narrative would be far simpler. Because I believe that the audience needs to understand the film they are watching. Yes, I know there are a lot of obstacles in the way but I am up for the challenge,” Arshad says.
However, as things stand today, he has had to put his directorial dreams on hold. Post the success of Ishqiya and Hum Tum Aur Ghost, Arshad wants to concentrate entirely on the slew of acting assignments coming his way. “It’s true I had said that I want to make a film, but I never said that it would be this year,” he chuckles, adding, “To become a director you need to drop everything else for at least two years and concentrate on direction. Right now I don’t want to do that as the scripts that are coming my way are amazing. I want to work on them first in the capacity of an actor. Production and direction can wait for some more time.”
Maybe now he is extra wary of changing tracks after his dismal production debut in HTAG. It’s good to take things one thing at a time, Arshad.
