Don’t let the multitude rule
I love this one. A wife tells her obese husband to hit the gym and get into shape. The husband yawns and shoots back that he is very much in shape. Round is a shape! Cracks me up but also makes me fall in love with the attitude. I remember meeting Kangna when she first came into the industry. She looked a little ill at ease but then I
saw Gangster and realised what a dynamite performer she is. Years later I met her again and everything was different. I could see that she had been under the cosmetic surgeon’s scalpel. I am sure she has her reasons but the girl I had seen earlier was lost behind that need for perfection.
Perfection. Who defines it? Who controls it? Who decides it? Short is good? Tall is better. The breast size has to be x and hips y. The nose straight. The waist slender. Why? What about character? What about individuality? The list of the female actors here who have had breast implants is endless. And yet they were already stars and accepted as talent before they feel in line with the standardised brick in the wall theory.
I think talent should be unique and not conform to set standards. The beauty of God’s creation is that each one of us is unique and the abomination of human behaviour is that everyone must fall under a set pattern of what we consider beautiful. What is it about us that wants to kill individuality? I think it’s the need for mass appeal. The mass of people can only be pleased by a certain standard while for every individual there is another who finds her good looking and attractive.
It comes down to many versus the one I think. Do we seek the approval of many? Or the one who finds us attractive? It would obviously depend on individual choice but my advice? Go for the one who finds you attractive as you are rather than the multitude that makes you into a clone of every other. The multitude is known for being disloyal.
