‘Don’t need to do much to make Ranbir look good’
Ranbir Kapoor may be quite the “rockstar” in Bollywood now, but make-up artist Ajay Kaloya has been working with him since the time he made his debut with Saawariya. Ajay says he is always happy to work with Ranbir since he is open to experimenting with his choice of characters and that in turn, gives Ajay himself a lot of scope to try different looks for the actor.
Ajay says, “One of the most challenging looks for Ranbir, among his recent films, was for Barfi!. The film was set in the 1970s and showed Ranbir’s gradual transformation from young boy to old man. I used different kinds of bases keeping in mind the different looks. We were very careful while selecting the thin mustache that he sported for some scenes, as it had to suit Ranbir’s face. For the last part he had a thick white mustache and white wig, that he managed to pull off very well.”
Ajay says that since Ranbir has good skin, he does not have too much trouble making him look good on screen in all his films. He says, “All I have to use generally, is a bit of blusher and eye shadow, except of course, if the look is something very different where elaborate make-up is required.”
