Double whammy for item boy Prabhu

When the term “item number” was yet to be coined, Prabhu Deva was ruling the roost in the 90s with songs such as Urvashi and Muqabla. Two decades have passed and now he is a well-established Bollywood director with two back-to-back blockbusters in his folio. But Prabhu will soon go back to his first love — dancing — in not one, but two item numbers in two different films.

What’s more, they are scheduled to release on the same day, making him the busiest item boy in town.
“This is indeed a double whammy for Prabhu, something he didn’t see it coming. He has a dance number each in Oh My God and Any Body Can Dance (ABCD) and both films will be releasing on September 28,” says a source. Both the songs are very different from each other, adding to their appeal. “The teaser for the Govinda track from OMG is out already and the whole video will be unveiled on Janmashtami,” the source adds. In fact the song will also be publicised at govinda venues where the track will be distributed for free. “On the other hand, Any Body Can Dance will feature him in a more contemporary avatar. Expect him to go all fast and furious since it is a dance film,” adds the source.
Maybe it’s time our item girls ran for their money.
