‘Ekta could have made the film without me’

While on the surface all seems cool between Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor, our sources claim that it is a “still waters run deep” situation here. Grapevine has it that Sanjay Gupta is actually contractually bound to make Shootout at Wadala for Ekta, because she holds the right to the franchise.

Sanjay, however, promptly rubbishes such talks saying, “Shootout is only a concept, so it doesn’t come under the purview of a contract. It is more of an ethical understanding between us and we have maintained the same team from the original film. Ekta had an option to make the film all these years, but still she waited for me. That should say something.” But the way Ekta continues to crack the whip, there seems to be more than just “ethical” understanding at play.
