Ekta keeps it spiritual
The Dirty Picture may have the highest number of nominations at the Iifa awards, but producer Ekta Kapoor doesn’t seem to care much.
The lady has decided to give the awards function a miss, because the day (June 7) happens to clash with her birthday, and she wants to celebrate it in her own unique way. Apparently, the ardent devotee has planned a spiritual trip with some of her closest friends to the temple of Tirupati Balaji. “It’s a tradition that I have been following for years; before any new beginning I always go seek the blessings of Lord Balaji,” says the producer who has already turned down the Iifa invitations.
The celebrations too will be for her closest friends only. “It will be a small and cosy affair for just friends and family,” informs her spokesperson. “Ekta has reached a stage where her family, friends and belief in God scores much higher than awards,” she adds.
In times when actors don’t turn up for award functions until that have received one, Ekta seems to be a trendsetter — one who is confident of winning it all but still prioritises the personal over the professional.
