Ekta’s sister act

A while ago, producer Ekta Kapoor was contemplating making a television show based on Charles Dicken’s famous work, Great Expectations. But looks like she’ll now have to drop the idea.

Word has it that after the success of Kai Po Che, Ekta’s cousin brother, Abhishek Kapoor is interested in making a film based on the same book. “Yes, Ekta had asked her writers to work on the adaptation of Great Expectations, but the plan was put on the back burner,” says a source close to Kapoor. Meanwhile Abhishek, who was unaware of his sister working on the same concept, expressed his desire to make a film on it.
“Abhishek is just toying with the idea and hasn’t finalised anything. Above all, both of them were unaware of the projects they were working on,” says our source. But like a true sister, Ekta has dropped the plan and paved the way for her cousin. “A film is a bigger medium and Ekta can afford to let go of one concept, that too for her brother,” adds the source.
