‘Emraan is a tortoise’

Mahesh Bhatt is over the moon these days, thanks to the super success his dear nephew Emraan Hashmi has achieved in the industry. After Murder 2, the director-producer can’t stop raving about his protégé has managed to write off the critics. “When Emraan started off, people were very cynical about his capabilities. Our industry is weird that way— sometimes, even without seeing a newcomer’s film, they just write him off. And then finally when Emraan managed to get noticed they called him a ‘serial kisser’,” says Mahesh adding, “We all know about the hare and the tortoise story. He is the tortoise, who has finally reached the winning post.”
Bhatt now assures his fans that there definitely will be a Murder 3 “same time, next year”. “We will raise the bar and try to build up more new talents, like we always have. Emraan will definitely be there; As for the leading actress, it will be someone new,” says Mahesh, squashing any last hopes Jacqueline Fernandes may have had of being recast.
